Closet Storage Solutions

Many people do not have much closet space in their home.  Either the closet is too small, or they simply do not have a closet in every bedroom.  This problem is very common.  There are many closet storage solutions to take advantage of.  First off, organization is a must.  It is nice if you have a shoe rack, maybe one of those hangers that hangs multiple articles of clothing at once.  A top shelf in your closet is very helpful as well.  It is a good idea to install hooks on the side walls of the closet, in order to hang coats, belts, as well as purses.

Depending on where in the house the closet is located will depend on your needs.  Bedroom closets will require a bigger space.  A hall closet will not need to be too big, just enough for a vacuum cleaner, and a coat rack on top.  Some homes have what is called a maid closet.  This is simply a closet where the cleaning supplies are stored.  If you have the space, you can have a walk in closet.  This can be in the bedroom, or the kitchen, or both.

A kitchen storage closet is nice.  It is like having one big cupboard.  A bedroom walk in closet will store everything you could think of, shoes, purses, belts, board games, and there is always plenty of space for whatever you need.  Extra blankets, pillows, sheets, anything you like.  A bedroom closet is a good place to store Christmas decorations.  It is a good idea to put everything in hard plastic containers.  This way, if you have mice, they cannot get inside.  A hard plastic container will not bend if you put things on top of it. You should label things as well.  With the label towards the outside of the container.  This way, you can grab whatever you need and go.

If you have the money to hire someone to build you a closet, you may have a custom closet built.  This way, you can design it however you like.  The closet doors should always be fairly light in weight.  This way, you will not strain yourself when you slide open the door.  It is always a good idea when shopping for a new home to make sure there is plenty of closet space.  This will keep your home less cluttered, making your home just a little bit nicer to live in.
